Mr. Pollyanna Is Playing with Fire. Again. Come Watch!

Hey, Anna-Liza here. It’s that time of year again – Mr. Pollyanna, aka Darlin’ K, is doing the fire show at Longmont’s Festival on Main. (If you watch the slideshow on that website, you’ll see some shots from last year’s fire show).

This year it will be on Friday, August 28th. The city closes several blocks of Main Street, between 3rd Ave. and Longs Peak Ave. (which should be 7th, since the one south is 6th and the one north is 8th … but I digress). Remember Darlin’ K and his fire spinning prowess? Of course you do! But here’s a reminder:

This year, he will have Chase, who is almost as beautiful to watch as Darlin’ K (okay, I might be a little biased there), Casey the Fire-Footed Break Dancer, and Melinda, who is a multi-fire-toy player – she can do fire hoops, fans, poi, and I don’t recall what else. There will also be aerial dancers! Yes! Aerial dancers on Main Street! And Mr. R will make his official fire-performing debut.

The whole Festival is a great late-summer party. Almost everything is free, including bouncy houses and inflatable slides, those ginormous bungee-cord things that look scary even with your feet firmly on the ground, live music, dancing, a capoeira demonstration, gymnastics, games — I always have a blast. This year, there will be two small airplanes parked on 4th Avenue, including a 1928 Travelair. And demo rides of electric vehicles – at the other end of the powered transportation spectrum.

And there’s going to be a Tulip Fairy. I don’t know either, but that’s what the website says.

The Festival runs from 6 to 9:30, and the fire show is from 7:30 to 9:30 at the intersection of 6th and Main. See you there! To quote Mr. B, “I love festivals!”
