Things have been… well… ugh. Yeah. For most of the year. Let’s just not go there, n’kay?
So, I’ll write a post about happy things. Shiny things. Couldn’t hurt. Might help. So here we go.
Shiny #2, 3 & 4: Yesterday I got a box of books in the mail. Among them were three Terry Pratchett books that I’ve read but didn’t own. You’re mine now, my pretties!
Shiny #5: I also got this book: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo. As those who know me would suspect, I have already almost finished reading this one. She has a practical and proven method for getting rid of clutter not just once but for good. But the most important point in the book is that every object in your home should spark joy.
Which resonates with me, as does this:
Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
– William Morris
Shiny #6: Another new book: Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You about Being Creative by Austin Kleon. Have barely opened it, but already love it.
Shiny #7: Hector and the Search for Happiness starring Simon Pegg. LOVE this movie! Highly highly recommend it. It’s funny and deep and silly and touching, all at once. See. it.
Shiny #8 to the 3rd power: My furry roommates, who make me feel loved and who make me laugh every day.
Shiny #9: And the BIGGEST SHINY OF 2015: The Sith Master graduated from college!!! He has a shiny new degree in Computer Science, and a mom as proud as the universe is big.
Shiny #10: And the biggest shiny in my life is The Sith Master himself. I love that
boy young man.
Hey, it did help. I’m smiling now.
What’s shiny for you?
